In my journey, I’ve come to the profound realization that to truly make a difference in helping people heal from trauma, I need to delve into the study and research of domestic violence and sexual assault. Perhaps, like you, I’ve dedicated my life to serving the community, and now I’m seeking an advanced credential that will further equip me to provide invaluable support.

This decision is not just a personal commitment but a professional one, driven by a genuine desire to deepen my understanding of the complexities of trauma. I believe that advancing my knowledge will enhance my ability to serve individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault more effectively.

As I embark on this journey, I am not just pursuing a credential; I am pursuing a pathway to meaningful impact. The fusion of study, research, and practical application will undoubtedly amplify my capacity to offer valuable support, guiding individuals along the journey to healing.

By focusing on domestic violence and sexual assault, I am acknowledging the profound impact these experiences can have on individuals. Through this dedicated focus, I aim to become an even more effective advocate, counselor, and supporter for those who need it the most.

The National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) is committed to upholding excellence in the field of victim advocacy and crisis response by providing trauma-informed training, education and credentialing to all victim assistance and allied professionals. Our training programs are created to promote a standard of knowledge among those interacting with victims/survivors of trauma and to ensure each victim/survivor receives a level of care and respect that empowers and promotes their wellbeing.

National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP) is designed to promote a minimum of forty hours of pre-service training for advocates, recognizes the advocate’s years of experience, whether volunteer or paid, and requires continuing education for all advocates credentialed under the program.

Through North Carolina Victim Assistance Network, (NCVAN’s) partnership with the North Carolina Justice Academy, law enforcement officers who complete the training and certification may receive continuing education credits. The training also counts towards fulfillment with requirements set forth by the Council for Women (for DV/SA programs and Child Advocacy Centers). (Please check for updates with the applicable entities.)

**Participants must complete each module to become certified as a Victim Service Practitioner.

Certified practitioners must submit documentation of 20 hours of continuing education to the NC Victim Service Practitioner Oversight Committee every three years to be re-certified.
